Warm Country Cottage Living Room

A few months back I received a referral from a client who I'd worked with last Spring.  The new client had finished construction and moved into their home, but hadn't pulled together the finishing touches on the living and dining areas.  We worked together, collaborating and shopping together to blend the styles that she loved seamlessly with the style of the home and needs of the family.  Today I'd like to share a bit of the living room design journey.

Living Room Before

Living Room Before

The living room before was a gorgeous room, no doubt, but it needed a bit more furniture, window treatments, and something special to make a statement.  The scale of the room made art placement tricky, so I wanted to find something that would blow you away when you walked into the room.  Before, the first thing that you saw upon entering the great room was the TV.   After we agreed upon a timeline and a direction, the shopping began.

We scoured the Mart and Scott Antique Market, eventually finding all of the pieces that we needed to complete the room.   I ordered custom drapes and selected the fabrics.  Our timeline was tight (3-4 weeks!) but that made the reward so much sweeter.  I LOVED seeing everything completed so quickly.  It was almost instant gratification!

Farmhouse Living Room After

The install went smoothly, moving the TV over the fireplace, installing a 9' mirror (YIKES!!), and staging everything for the big reveal.  The living room rug came in a day late, so the pictures are missing the gorgeous Surya rug that we ordered.  I am so excited for this family to enjoy their living area.  Working with new clients, making new friends, and learning all about their life and style are what makes my job so rewarding.  It's hard to top the feeling I get when they say "This is better than I had imagined!"  This was a fun one!
